Singing belongs to one who loves.
The Church teaches us that “the musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art” - Sacrosanctum Concilium, p. 112

Here we seek to feed the curiosity of the student and resident communities and to promote an authentically Catholic culture and community through the engagement with the Church’s treasury of sacred music, especially in the liturgy. This includes gregorian chant, polyphony, and hymnody.

We have many opportunities for singers, instrumentalists, and composers of many ages and experience levels.

Choirs

  • (Specialized choirs that sing for Sunday @6pm (rehearsal @ 4:45) and Tuesday Candlelight Masses @9pm (rehearsal at 7:45) on a rolling basis - refer to calendar below.

  • 5 PM Saturday Vigil Mass (Rehearsal at 4:15)

    9 AM Sunday Mass Choir (Rehearsal at 8:20)

  • These choirs sing on major feast days and solemnities throughout the year.

    St. Hildegard Treble Choir (Age 6-12)

    Teen Choir (Age 13-17)

  • This group sings at prayer nights, during Adoration, and also before some liturgies.

  • We gather in the chapel in Drogo’s Coffee Bar every weekday at 8:15 AM for sung Morning Prayer. It takes about 20-30 minutes. Feel free to drop in!

FAQs

  • There is no dress code for Tuesday night Candlelight Mass.

    Dress code for all other Masses is business casual or higher. No jeans please!

    While attempts to strictly define the term often can cause undue harm or confusion, modesty is nonetheless a virtue that should be discerned and exercised by all in good conscience.

  • Many choristers did not have such experience coming into the program. This whole program is about learning over time, so there aren’t any particular expectations coming in, just a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. If you have any concerns about gaps in your knowledge or want to learn about something specific, reach out to Brian!
