When she was ten years old, her friend invited her to Mass. She immediately fell in love with the Catholic Faith and asked her parents if she could become Catholic and attend Catholic school. Although surprised, her parents supported her. She entered the Faith when she was 12 years old. While on a road trip with her family, Jean passed through Boulder, Colorado. She was struck by its beauty and knew that one day she would call Boulder home. Jean decided to become a CU Buffalo in 1984. That fall, she attended her first Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas and has been here ever since! When Jean was 14 years old, she had her first job as a receptionist at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Georgia. Ever since she knew she wanted to be a parish secretary. Jean works afternoons at St. Thomas Aquinas and spends the rest of her time working as a Job Development Coordinator for students with special needs for the Boulder Valley School District. Jean enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, writes children's books, paddleboards, takes Zumba classes, and gardens. Jean says, “One of my favorite quotes is from St. Thomas Aquinas: ‘To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. He went on to study at Metropolitan State University where he studied Industrial design. After working as a project coordinator in a corporate setting, Steve wanted to offer his skills to the Catholic Church. He joined the St. Thomas Aquinas team, as the Director of Facilities, in 2017 and has been creating a safe and warm environment ever since. In Steve’s free time, he enjoys refurbishing his home with his lovely wife Chrissy and their two dogs, helping his local parish in Gilpin County, reading, listening to podcasts, playing games with family, and spending time in the National Forest. Peter (padre) - Meet Fr. Peter Srsich (a.k.a Padre) Father Peter Srsich grew up in the foothills of Colorado with his parents and a younger brother. From a young age, he had a great interest in the faith and that faith really came alive when he was at Mullen High School. Father Peter has always had a deep love for both music and the outdoors. He learned to ski before he knew how to walk and spent many weekends with his grandparents in Breckenridge. When he was about ten years old he began to learn how to play the violin, which set him down the path of learning how to play many different instruments. Just before his senior year of high school, Father was diagnosed with a severe form of cancer. This experience of suffering forced him to examine his faith in a new way. However, throughout his battle with cancer, he learned that Jesus was always walking with him and that the Lord can work incredible wonders even in the midst of great trials. Thanks be to God, Father Peter has been cancer-free for over ten years and has only grown in faith since! Father Peter graduated from Mullen High School in 2012 and then attended Regis University for two years before entering the Seminary for the Archdiocese of Denver. He attended St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver for three years before moving to Rome, Italy to finish his formation. He was ordained a Deacon on February 22, 2020 and then was ordained a priest a little over a year later on May 15, 2021. Following his ordination, he returned to Rome to pursue a Licentiate in Biblical Theology which he obtained in June of 2023 from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Through his studies, he developed a great love of the Sacred Scriptures which he can’t wait to share with the St. Thomas community. As parochial vicar, he is excited about the privilege of walking with students at the University of Colorado during this incredibly formative and important time of their lives. She now lives in Westminster with her family. During her time at CU she met her husband and the two of them were involved with the Navigators. Tania attended Bible studies, weekly meetings, activities and events. This university ministry had a lasting impact on her life and still remains friends with fellow students. Five years ago, Tania and her family became Catholic and joined the St. Thomas Aquinas community. She found a home in this community because she knows how important this ministry is in the lives of the students at CU Boulder. In Tania’s free time she enjoys traveling with my family, and hanging out with friends while cycling, running, or hiking. I especially love spending time in the mountains whether here in Boulder, or in other states and countries. I also enjoy studying the Bible, spiritual books, listening to podcasts and discussing in a group setting. His family retired in Las Vegas, but Brian moved to Colorado for college, and has been here ever since. He attended CU Boulder and studied Economics and Music Composition, graduating in 2019. During his time at CU, Brian made it a priority to have a good church community and was heavily involved in St. Thomas Aquinas. He was a part of countless retreats, FOCUS bible studies, and had an active role in the choir, which awakened his love of the Church's rich liturgical tradition. After college, Brian served as a missionary with Christ in the City for two years. At CIC he was formed in the faith through regular prayer, living in community, and by knowing, loving, and serving the poor on the streets of Denver. This formation helped him to deepen his relationship with the Lord and to get to know his own poverty, as well as discover the joy of building beautiful, mutually healing friendships with the people he encountered on the street. In 2022, Brian was called to serve at St. Thomas Aquinas as the Music Director. Brian desires to lead people closer to the Lord through the beauty of music and by being present to each person as a missionary disciple for Christ. In Brian’s free time, he enjoys swimming, hiking, reading, and he especially loves playing the saxophone and writing music. Brian says, “Working here is like coming home. Now I get to serve the same program which helped me grow in my faith as a student. He grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico before attending the University of Kansas (Class of ‘21) where he studied finance and met his eventual wife (and coworker), Fallon, in the KU Running Club. After a backfired attempt to convert Fallon away from Catholicism, Mark encountered the fullness of faith in the Catholic Church and accepted an offer as a FOCUS missionary, on the condition that he get confirmed. He spent the next year working as an investment banking analyst in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and entering the Church before joining FOCUS and being sent to CU Boulder as a missionary. In his two years on the FOCUS team, Mark fell in love with the work that God is doing through this university ministry and decided to join the team. Mark is passionate about the transformation that is taking place in the lives of CU students and is most excited to keep our benefactors connected to this mission.
