Meet Jean Olmsted

Jean Olmsted, a southern girl, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, with her parents and four brothers. When she was ten years old, her friend invited her to Mass. She immediately fell in love with the Catholic Faith and asked her parents if she could become Catholic and attend Catholic school. Although surprised, her parents supported her. She entered the Faith when she was 12 years old. While on a road trip with her family, Jean passed through Boulder, Colorado. She was struck by its beauty and knew that one day she would call Boulder home. Jean decided to become a CU Buffalo in 1984. That fall, she attended her first Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas and has been here ever since! When Jean was 14 years old, she had her first job as a receptionist at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Georgia. Ever since she knew she wanted to be a  parish secretary. Jean works afternoons at St. Thomas Aquinas and spends the rest of her time working as a Job Development Coordinator for students with special needs for the Boulder Valley School District.

Jean enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, writes children's books, paddleboards, takes Zumba classes, and gardens.

Jean says, “One of my favorite quotes is from St. Thomas Aquinas: ‘To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.’”
